Grow, Develop, Contribute, Inspire, Motivate, Advance, Shine!

Looking forward to hearing Ellen Gottesdiener speak tonight, on driving value through focusing on what we're in the business of (product) not just projects.  Should be a good one.  More info below.

Delivering Value with Product Roadmaps

If you're managing your portfolio using projects – and not products – you may be missing the point.  After all, the product-to-be is the basis for the vision, goals, and expected outcome.

Most teams focus on plans at a tactical level, looking at near-term releases, but that practice can result in products that fail to provide the kind of value the organization expects.  A product roadmap articulates how you will continually deliver a valued product over a long-time horizon and provides a framework for decision making, focusing all stakeholders on the strategic view, guiding changes in the near-term plans.

Key Learning Points:

  • understand how product roadmaps help you deliver the right product
  • learn how to align organizational ends with means
  • adapt to changing requirements
  • make tough choices that deliver higher strategic value

NOTE: prizes and giveaways will be raffled, including copies of Ellen's books!  Bring your business cards to throw into the hat.
